Environmental Contributions
Environmental Contributions from the very beginning of its inception, FFi has had a strong commitment to help maintain the purity and beauty of our planet--this is reflected in the line of quality ecologically-based products we provide to our Distributors. Yet we don’t feel that our business efforts alone are enough. To further make good on our commitment, we created a division called the FFi (Fundamental Freedom Initiative) Project, which has been a key platform for launching our global ecological campaign.
The first organization that FFi chose to support is charity: water, a nonprofit group that brings clean water and basic sanitation into impoverished communities through the construction of new wells, creating an immediate impact on the local community. Since charity: water was founded in August 2006, it has funded the construction of more than 620 wells that, when completed, will provide clean drinking water to an estimated 250,000 people in Africa. FFi made a substantial contribution towards this organization’s efforts and helped sponsor a massive fundraising event in New York.
FFi’s philanthropic goals were furthered in 2007 when we funded a new roof for the Divine Secondary School, a humble dwelling in Entebbe, Uganda that also serves as a home for approximately 80 underprivileged children ages 6 to 16. Many of them are orphans living with AIDS or malaria. It was here that FFi drilled its first of four wells for the school to provide safe, clean water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. Debbie Kurley, FFi’s Director of Customer Relations, was able to meet and talk with many of the orphans, which was a truly rewarding experience.
FFi’s efforts also extend to Indonesia, where Wendy and Randy accompanied, by approximately 100 Distributors, planted mangrove trees to help restore the original habitat to a large area of shoreline and prevent storm surge damage like that which occurred with the devastating tsunami in 2004. Even though they were covered with mud by the time the day was over, everyone felt a great sense of accomplishment by having done a great thing for Indonesia and the people that live there. Eager to prove ourselves once more as a truly “green” company, FFi’s members in Thailand participated in a tree planting and rally event in 2008 sponsored by the Crime Press Association of Thailand. This exciting event marked a huge milestone for FFi in stepping forward and actively promoting our important mission to continue improving the quality of the environment.
More recently, in China we have begun planting the Loulan tea plant to prevent further desertification and help remediate the damaging sandstorms that have plagued this region for years. Experts predict the spread of desert will reach Beijing within 10 to 15 years if more is not done. FFi contributes $3.50 for each box of tea that we sell to go towards the habitat restoration. We hope that one day soon, the work we have done will be visible via Google Earth, which would be very exciting!
One other important way in which FFi has been able to make a difference is through saving energy and significantly reducing emissions in power generators and boilers with the use of our flagship MPG products. We have documented cases where companies have seen as much as a 35% increase in fuel efficiency/savings. Currently, we have many power generation projects underway from Brazil to Pakistan to Mexico. Considering that one of the most serious environmental problems we face today is the pollution of our air, and that a major culprit is hazardous emission from fuel burning engines such as the automobile, FFi is proud of its role in reducing this danger by promoting the widespread use of MPG-CAPS™.
FFi has had the good fortune of great success in our business, which allows us to extend our efforts to address a larger, more global perspective. As our involvement in environmental and philanthropic work continues to grow, we invite you to explore this path along with us. We are confident that by working together, we can do more to improve the quality of our environment. We welcome you to join our FFi family as we each examine our own part of the world to find ways to change things for the better.
